1)   General Description

.

NetOctopus has so many advanced discovery features, it's like adding hours to your day and a full-time asset manager to your staff. Using NetOctopus, you can remotely inventory:

More than 400 hardware and system software items :
  • All active software running on client machines.
  • All installed software on each system's hard drives.
  • All active fonts available to end user systems.
  • All network devices (printers, servers, serialized applications) that open up an AppleTalk network socket.
  • Scan which user is on a particular OS version, using which software, with how much system memory quickly and from the administrator's workstation

How easy is the interface? Using drag and drop, you configure and view data the way you like it. Or, use
default templates for quick starts. NetOctopus' relational databases are powerful, too. Sort information
quickly, using simple or compound filters. Use standard logical operations (e.g. AND, OR, NOT) on any of the
400 information items for creating filters. Information can also be exported to third party databases.

When it comes to software inventories, NetOctopus helps you keep your software usage legal, potentially saving
your company legal penalties.
NetOctopus now allows you to monitor how your workstations change over time. As an integral component of Asset
Management, this time saving feature will draw your attention to what is most important in your network, the
changes which may effect performance. NetOctopus’s historical analysis feature allows you to monitor:
  • Unauthorized software installations
  • Software removal
  • RAM theft
  • Hard disk capacity issues
  • PCI and NuBus Card removal
  • SCSI device removal without authorization
  • IP Address changes
  • Display changes
  • Processor upgrades
