CANVAS 9 Scientific Imaging Edition
This edition includes support for 8/16/FP32 Real depth images, over a dozen Image-J and NIH Image compliant filters,
an open image API, direct access to the numeric image data, and support for industry standard DICOM format files.

CANVAS 9 Scientific Imaging Edition is the first product of its kind to incorporate a wide array of tools to accurately measure, analyze, import and export digital images with up to 32 bits of floating point pixel data per channel. This Edition opens up a world of possibilities for life scientists, researchers, engineers, students, astronomers and other professionals who regularly gather and analyze data from scientific imagers, scanners and custom data collection instruments.

Graphic Design professionals attached to these fields can also benefit greatly from these new capabilities.

The CANVAS 9 Scientific Imaging Edition adds support for 8/16/FP32 depth images, over a dozen Image-J and NIH Image compliant filters, direct access to the numeric image data, and support for industry standard DICOM format files.

KEY FEATURES OF THE CANVAS 9 SCIENTIFIC IMAGING EDITION INCLUDE:

  • Native support for images with 8-bit, 16-bit and Real (FP32) data per channel. No need to "dumb down" the data to fit within the capabilities of "art-centric" graphics products.
  • New Image Data viewer provides direct numeric access to image data. You can define the area of interest, copy and paste and view data in hexadecimal, signed and unsigned decimal, FP-2, FP-4 and FP-8 Decimal formats.

New Binary Filters are accessible from the Image menu and Sprite menu:

  • Close

  • Dilate

  • Distance Map

  • Erode

  • Make Binary

  • Open

  • Outline

  • Skeletonize

  • Ultimate Points

New Scientific Filters are accessible from the Image menu or Sprite menu:

  • Arithmetic
  • Binary logic
  • Convolve
  • Expression
  • Image math

Colorize

(use the Colorize filter to reveal details in grayscale images that are invisible to the naked eye. Invaluable with 16-bit and FP32 images since these carry much more information than the eye can see)
